My name is Jonquil Guidry, and I am a mother, author, speaker, certified Christian life coach, entrepreneur, and Texas real estate broker. I was a woman who lost everything and I had to learn to rebuild, or build more strategically.
I owned 10 houses. I had built what looked like a solid life. Then the devastation started with divorce, debt, and dis-ease in every area of life, as the market shifted, the commissions stopped arriving on time, and the foundation I thought was rock-solid crumbled beneath me. I became homeless. Not once, but several times. Because when your only income stream dries up and nothing is flowing, there is no safety net. Just bags, and I had ten of them, to travel light as I wandered from place to place.
That season stripped me bare. It took my pride, my security, my identity, and the life I thought I was supposed to be living. But here is what I did not know then: God was not demolishing my life. He was clearing the lot for a rebuild on his word and principles.
From that broken foundation, I wrote my first book, Bare: My Journey From Owning 10 Houses To Being Homeless With 10 Bags. Then I wrote my second book, Bare: Poems To Ponder. I am launching three businesses: Jonquil Connections for coaching and speaking, By Jonquil™ for beauty and wellness products, and 1 Connection Real Estate™. I built a YouTube channel with over 220 videos. I became a certified Christian life coach.
I did not rebuild by accident. I rebuilt strategically by getting B.A.R.E.: Bold, Authentic, Restored, and Empowered. And I rebuilt understanding past, present, and future Connections: emotionally, mentally, spiritually, physically, and financially.
Now I help other women do the same. Women who have been through divorce, widowhood, loss, career dead-ends, or health crises. Women who know God has called them to more but cannot figure out how to get from where they are to where He is wanting to lead them. Women who need more than one income stream because they have learned the hard way that depending on a single paycheck or commission is building on quicksand.
Every woman has a God-given purpose. I believe there are good jobs and there are God jobs, where doors are unexpectedly opened for you and against all odds you are greatly favored there. Are you in a job building someone else's vision, when God gave you a vision to start building your own business?
Financial freedom requires multiple streams of income. Will you use your God-given purpose to create your streams? One low-income paycheck creates insecurity and instability, as well as setbacks.
Wellness is not a luxury; it is part of your foundation. If your body, mind, and soul are broken, nothing you build on top will stand for very long.
Your story, every painful chapter of it, is your building blocks and stepping stones. It is never too late to use the building materials that you have gathered, being prepared and equipped to break ground and build a new life.
